Drafting Designer
Springhill Lumber (Wholesale) Ltd. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Drafting Designer to join our growing Design Department. Reporting directly to the Senior Draftsman/Designer, the successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative team designing residential and light commercial building projects throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwestern Ontario. This primarily in-office position offers an excellent opportunity for both recent graduates and experienced drafting professionals who are passionate about quality design and continuous professional development.
The successful candidate will receive full company-paid benefits after 90 days.
Salary: Depending on Experience
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate construction drawings, working plans, and shop drawings.
- Produce framing layouts and detailed construction documentation.
- Revise drawings based on customer requirements, architectural and engineering specifications, and applicable building code requirements.
- Ensure all drawings comply with applicable building codes and company standards.
- Collaborate with sales staff, project managers, estimators, and customers throughout the design process.
- Participate in project reviews and problem-solving throughout the design process.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
- Other drafting and design-related duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Graduate of the RRC Polytech Drafting Technology Program or an equivalent post-secondary drafting or design program.
- Experience with residential drafting is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of residential construction methods and applicable building codes is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accuracy.
- Professional, dependable, and customer-focused with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Reliable vehicle is required, as this is a non-bus route.
