Hours are Monday to Friday- 7-330pm, 8 hours daily.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Traffic Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic around construction sites, roadworks, and other public areas. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment. The Traffic Controller will be responsible for coordinating traffic flow, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting with heavy equipment operations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Direct traffic flow around construction sites, ensuring the safety of both workers and the public.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and pedestrians using hand signals and other visual aids.
- Monitor traffic patterns and adjust signals as necessary to maintain smooth operations.
- Collaborate with construction crews to facilitate paving and building activities while minimizing disruptions.
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in the operation of heavy equipment when required, contributing to various construction tasks.
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding any changes in traffic patterns or site conditions.
Experience
- Previous experience in traffic control or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certification in Traffic Control Safety
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is a plus, particularly in paving and building contexts.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, for effective interaction with the public and team members.
