Allient London is seeking a self-motivated and self-starter individual who thrives working in a semi-autonomous environment to become part of the management team at our office located in London, ON.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the defense and government sectors. This role focuses on building strategic partnerships, managing government and military relationships, and driving revenue growth by aligning company capabilities with defense procurement needs.
You will be called on and play a key role in identifying risks and areas of concern to the business as well as addressing these as opportunities to provide solutions, both internally and externally, to ensure the continued success and growth of the business.
A willingness to travel is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for maintaining customer relationships in order to optimize each customer contact.
- Overall responsibility for achieving sales and profitability objectives for new and existing customers in the defense sector.
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans for defense programs and contracts while monitoring defense procurement programs, geopolitical developments budgets and upcoming RFI/RFQs.
- Identify new sales opportunities and provide solutions to those applications as applicable to our areas of expertise – including but not limited to composites, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical with a view to sell upper level system solutions.
- Coordinate with Program Management, Engineering and Operations team to ensure new sales opportunities are clearly scoped out and understood prior to PO receipt official kick off meeting.
- Respond to and process customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner for the division and direct requests accordingly. Work with inside sales (Quoting and Estimating Job Functions) to ensure we are quoting profitable projects that will have a high probability of success.
- Address customer concerns by “championing the customer relationship”, working closely with operations, program management and engineering to ensure issues are resolved effectively and to satisfaction of the customer.
- Ensure all business development activities comply with defense regulations, export controls and procurement policies.
- Ensure all key performance indicator targets including sales and gross profit are met for your accounts.
- Time management skills to serve several customers, projects and employees at the same time.
- Responsible for maintaining the sales budgets as part of the overall Defense sector business plan.
- Follow regulations and policies as outlined in company’s employee handbook
- In accordance with the health & safety policy, follow and exceed the legislative requirements outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act in order to provide a safe & healthy workplace for all employees.
- Follow ISO Policy Manual and Procedures
- Follow requirements as required by Controlled Goods Registration and other defense sector registrations (i.e. ITAR, etc.)
- Other duties and projects as assigned throughout the year
Requirements
- College or University Diploma (Mechanical / Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Experience in product and service sales for a highly engineered product line
- 5+ years of sales/ marketing experience with established contacts and relationships within defense sector.
- Proven track record of success in a sales capacity
- Strategic thinking and negotiation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Productivity Suite
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Able to work in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment demonstrating excellent organizational and time management skills
- Professional personal presentation
- Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude
- Ability to manage complex bids and multi-stakeholder relationships.
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license as travel by car is required

Pay: $115,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

Experience:
