Do you have a passion for teaching mathematics? Are you looking for a position where you can help students of all ages? We are currently looking for candidates who can join Kumon of North Delta's team of instructional assistants.
Successful candidates will be responsible for guiding students during center hours in higher-level mathematics (Calculus, etc.), completing various tasks, including marking students' homework, data entry, adjusting lesson plans, and handling general inquiries from students and parents.
This position requires:
- Completion of post secondary education (minimum)
- Fully available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
Your work schedule would be:
- 3 pm- 7 pm
- (Total: 20hours/wk)
The following are preferred but not required:
- Previous Kumon student/knowledge or familiarity with the Kumon program
- Administrative experience including filing, data entry etc.
- Professional level of written and verbal communication
- Sales and customer service experience
- Fluent in speaking a 2nd language
This position expects completion of the following tasks:
- Adhere to the Kumon methods of worksheet guidance when assisting students. Mark their sheets promptly when necessary.
- Greet students when seated and ensure they are working on their assigned set for the day. Ensure that they are following the correct steps when approaching worksheets.
- Become familiar with the data entry software utilized at the centre. Math Instructors are responsible for entering scores and making necessary adjustments to student lesson plans.
- Provide detailed feedback in lesson plans regarding observations of students made in class.
- Ensure students are kept from the classroom for an extended duration of time. When asking students to leave the classroom, make sure they leave with a positive experience no matter what difficulties they may have faced.
- The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure in a hectic environment during class days. They are adhering to the highest level of customer service while multitasking, which is the most challenging aspect of this position.
You will be asked to complete a short assessment of your mathematical skills and communicative abilities as part of our hiring process.
* This is a long -term, part -time position, not a summer job.
