A Restoration Technician assists in the restoration and remediation of residential and commercial properties damaged by water, fire, mold, storms, and other disasters. The role involves emergency response, cleanup, demolition, drying, deodorization, and reconstruction support to help return properties to their pre-loss condition. Restoration Technicians work with specialized equipment, follow safety regulations, and provide excellent customer service during stressful situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency restoration and mitigation calls.
- Assess property damage caused by water, fire, mold, smoke, or other disasters.
- Perform water extraction, structural drying, and moisture monitoring.
- Set up and operate drying, dehumidification, and air filtration equipment.
- Complete demolition and removal of damaged materials.
- Conduct mold remediation and environmental cleaning following industry standards.
- Clean, deodorize, and sanitize affected structures and contents.
- Pack, inventory, transport, and restore customer belongings when required.
- Maintain accurate job documentation, photographs, and moisture readings.
- Follow company health and safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency response services.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in restoration, construction, demolition, or general labour is an asset.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and disaster environments.
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.
- IICRC certifications (Water Damage Restoration, Applied Structural Drying, etc.) are considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting of 50 lbs (23 kg) or more.
- Standing, bending, climbing, and carrying equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and wear respiratory protection when required.
- Availability for overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
