We are currently hiring a Forklift Operator / DZ Driver to support our yard, shop, and transportation operations. This role includes forklift operation (30%), DZ driving (30%), and order packing/material handling (40%).
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy‑duty forklifts handling long and heavy steel (48–60 ft lengths).
- Load, unload, and transport materials throughout the yard and shop.
- Stage materials for saw operators, welders, and fitters.
- Maintain yard organization and production staging areas.
- Load and offload trucks/trailers with proper load securement.
- Perform routine forklift and vehicle inspections.
- Operate DZ-class flatbed trucks and tow trailers as required.
- Complete trip reports, CVOR documentation, and vehicle condition reports.
- Follow all company safety procedures and transportation regulations.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Forklift License with 3+ years of experience.
- Valid DZ Driver’s License with 5+ years of experience.
- Clean driving record and clean CVOR.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and Ontario traffic laws.
- Hours-of-Service knowledge.
- Experience with load securement (strapping, chaining, tarping).
- Trailer towing experience.
- Flatbed experience (preferred).
- Ability to read metric and imperial measurements.
- Strong communication and time‑management skills.
- Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work independently.
- Physically capable of lifting and handling materials.
- Industrial or fabrication environment experience (an asset).
Compensation & Schedule
- Hourly Wage: $22.00–$28.00/hour (based on experience).
- Hours: 45–55 hours per week with overtime.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
- Weekends as required.
