POSITION: Child and Family Support Services Manager

SALARY RANGE: $82,500 - $95,000 based on Experience and qualifications
POSITION OVERVIEW
SȾÁUTW First Nation is seeking a Child and Family Support Services Manager to provide operational leadership and day-to-day coordination for child and family support services. This position plays a key role in supporting culturally grounded, prevention-focused, family-centred, and trauma-informed services that promote the safety, wellness, resilience, and cultural connections of children, youth, young adults, families, and caregivers.
Under the direction of the Director of Child and Family Services, the Manager is responsible for coordinating program delivery, supervising staff, supporting the implementation of policies and procedures, maintaining records and reporting requirements, and ensuring services align with SȾÁUTW First Nation priorities, funding agreements, applicable legislation, and relevant service standards.
The Manager works collaboratively with the Director of Child and Family Services, internal departments, delegated and non-delegated service partners, community supports, and external agencies to support early intervention, family preservation, reunification where appropriate, and holistic wellness for SȾÁUTW children and families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative, Operational and Reporting
· Support the Director of Child and Family Services in implementing departmental plans, policies, procedures, frameworks, and annual workplans for Child and Family Support Services.
· Coordinate day-to-day program operations, including service schedules, staff assignments, referrals, documentation, and follow-up activities.
· Prepare briefing notes, reports, correspondence, program updates, and other documents required for internal decision-making, funding accountability, and service coordination.
· Maintain accurate program records, case-related documentation, statistical data, and files in accordance with organizational policy, confidentiality requirements, funding agreements, and applicable legislation.
· Monitor program deliverables, timelines, service gaps, emerging needs, and budget-related considerations, and provide regular updates and recommendations to the Director of Child and Family Services.
· Support quarterly and annual narrative, statistical, financial, and funding compliance reporting in collaboration with the Director of Child and Family Services and Finance.
Program Service Delivery and Family Support
· Manage the delivery of Child and Family Support Services programming for children, youth, young adults, families, and caregivers in alignment with departmental priorities, community needs, and annual operational goals.
· Ensure services are culturally grounded, family-centred, trauma-informed, strengths-based, prevention-focused, and responsive to the needs of SȾÁUTW children, youth, families, and community members.
· Coordinate prevention, early intervention, family preservation, reunification, transition planning, post-majority, and wraparound supports where applicable.
· Support service planning by coordinating referrals, internal supports, external resources, cultural supports, and follow-up actions for families.
· Collaborate with delegated Aboriginal agencies, MCFD, health, education, housing, social development, justice, cultural supports, and other partners to promote coordinated and holistic service responses.
· Identify service gaps, community trends, program data, and opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations to the Director of Child and Family Services.
· Build and maintain respectful relationships with families, staff, community members, leadership, and partner agencies while upholding confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural safety.
Supervision and Human Resources
· Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, guidance, workload planning, and performance support to Child and Family Support Services staff.
· Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, training, scheduling, and retention activities in collaboration with the Director of Child and Family Services and Human Resources.
· Promote a respectful, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and collaborative work environment for staff and service users.
· Monitor service quality, documentation practices, staff records, training records, and adherence to policies, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards.
· Assist with resolving staff, client service, and operational concerns in a timely, respectful, and solution-focused manner, escalating matters to the Director of Child and Family Services as required.
· Model ethical conduct, accountability, cultural humility, confidentiality, and professionalism in all supervisory and service delivery activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Use of office peripherals.
· Sitting and/or standing for extended periods.
· Occasional travel for events.
· Occasional work during non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends, based on organizational and community needs.

· Strong relationship-building skills with children, youth, families, Elders, community members, staff, leadership, and external service partners.
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate services, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to sensitive or complex family support situations.
· Ability to apply confidentiality, ethical decision-making, cultural humility, and sound professional judgment in daily work.
· Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, follow-through, program evaluation, data collection, and continuous improvement skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, or a related field relevant to the position and duties. A combination of education, training, and directly related experience may be considered.
· Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in child and family services, family support, prevention services, social services, health, or community-based programming.
· Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, team lead, coordination, or management experience, preferably in an Indigenous community or child and family service setting.
· Demonstrated knowledge of prevention-focused, family-centred, culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and strengths-based service delivery models.
· Experience supporting program development, service coordination, community engagement, policy implementation, staff supervision, reporting, and funding accountability.
· Experience preparing written reports, workplans, funding updates, policies, procedures, presentations, and other program documentation.
· Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial child and family service legislation, standards, policies, and funding requirements, including Indigenous child and family services frameworks.
· Knowledge of First Nations governance, community-based service delivery, family support systems, and the importance of maintaining children’s connections to family, culture, language, and community.
· Excellent leadership, supervision, communication, consultation, facilitation, coordination, and conflict resolution skills.
· Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, manage multiple responsibilities, maintain attention to detail, and demonstrate confidentiality.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic records or case management systems.
· Professional, respectful, and culturally responsive approach to working with children, youth, families, staff, leadership, and external partners.
· Valid BC Driver’s Licence and access to reliable transportation may be required.
· Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check, including the vulnerable sector.
