Job Overview
Seeking an enthusiastic and passionate educator with a sound knowledge of grade 6/7 curriculum to inspire and lead a small group (2-4 students) of curious, respectful and hardworking children. Your duties will include preparing and delivering engaging lesson plans with a focus on language arts and mathematics along with history, geography, science, logic and rhetoric. Lessons will reflect a classical approach to education that teaches the child to read deeply, reason clearly, speak persuasively and contribute meaningfully. Curriculum delivery will take place without the use of technology.
The ideal candidate will have a B.Ed. degree, experience working with children, a passion for holistic education, strong communication and organizational skills, empathy, patience and adaptability and the ability to inspire a lifelong love of learning. Experience with Waldorf Education is an asset. The candidate will have the ability to prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans and learning materials, evaluate and assess learning, provide real-time feedback to students and adjust curriculum in response to assessments while communicating collaboratively with families. This part-time position will include 3-hour learning blocks, 3-4 times per week, Monday through Thursday mornings in Kingston, Ontario. Compensation is $40-60/hour based on qualifications and years of experience.
Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
