We are seeking an experienced Wok Chef to join our busy Indo-Chinese restaurant. The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience operating high-heat wok stations and preparing authentic Hakka, Chinese, and Indo-Chinese dishes in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining food quality, speed of service, kitchen cleanliness, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook Indo-Chinese and Chinese dishes using wok cooking techniques
- Operate high-heat wok stations efficiently during busy service periods
- Ensure consistency, taste, and presentation of all dishes
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist with food preparation, inventory control, and kitchen organization
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Train and support junior kitchen team members when required
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of commercial wok cooking experience
- Experience preparing Hakka Chinese, Indo-Chinese, or Asian cuisine
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation practices
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings and weekends
- Previous experience in a restaurant kitchen is required
Preferred
- Experience in Hakka Chinese restaurants
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
