Wire Harness Design & Release Engineer
Must be able to travel to MI
We are seeking an experienced Wire Harness Design & Release Engineer to support the design, validation, and release of vehicle wiring harness assemblies and electrical system components. This role is responsible for managing the complete product lifecycle, from concept through launch and post-production support, while working closely with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and release wiring harness assemblies using 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Ensure engineering drawings and documentation align with the master model (Model is Master).
- Create and validate CCDs, CNs, IAAs, and PERs to meet engineering and release requirements.
- Evaluate, justify, and implement engineering changes for vehicle programs.
- Support First Piece Sign-Off (FPSO) and Production Sign-Off (PSO) activities with Supplier Quality.
- Manage GIMs entries, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support vehicle launch activities at assembly plants and resolve production issues.
- Contribute to DFMEA, DVP (including CC validation), FO, and Design Rule compliance.
- Review supplier DFMEA and DVP submissions.
- Participate in ACE packaging meetings and scroll reviews.
- Maintain PDP documentation and FASTCAR records.
- Support PASD complexity charts and compliance reporting.
- Provide input for owner's manual illustrations and technical documentation.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across components and engineering documentation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3* years of experience in transportation wiring design, release engineering, or vehicle electrical systems.*
- At least 4 years of overall engineering experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and present technical reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Training in DFMEA, DVP&R, and DFSS methodologies.
- Experience with NX and/or CATIA CAD software.
- Experience using Capital XC for 2D wiring harness design.
- Knowledge of high-volume automotive manufacturing and wiring harness production.
- Understanding of automotive wiring harness drawings and specifications.
- Experience with SharePoint or other web-based data management systems.
Pay: $40.00-$44.00 per hour
