JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Accountant supports the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Essential Job Duties:
- Reconcile and analyze prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, investments, leases and capital assets.
- Manage and oversee activities related to company assets and leases.
- Handle acquisitions, disposals, and lease buyouts transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintain accurate and complete listings of owned and leased assets for internal use.
- Track and support maintenance of insurance and property taxes.
- Record and reconcile prepaid transactions.
- Provide required information for insurance and investment purposes.
- Communicate with insurance and lease companies regarding any changes and issues.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Post entries, maintain records, and create reports.
- Analyze financial records for compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
- Compile month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working papers.
- Ensure documentation is organized and audit-ready.
- Respond to inquiries from senior financial leadership and others regarding insurance, capital assets, and other requests.
- Perform Ad Hoc analysis.
- Carry out additional duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary Accounting or Finance courses.
- Bachelor of Business Degree or Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or equivalent would be considered an asset.
- In CPA program (nearing completion) or CPA designation would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of US GAAP is considered an asset.
SKILLS BASED REQUIREMENTS:
- Problem-solving skills with strong decision-making capability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Dynamics 365 accounting software preferred.
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong team player, willing to collaborate with others.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to serve both internal and external clients, providing information in a timely and clear manner.
- Willingness to put in extra effort to meet deadlines.
- Ability to propose possible solutions to problems and present them for discussion.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn.

- The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year depending on experience.
