Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and implementing effective environmental practices within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a commitment to fostering a safe working environment for all employees.
Duties
- Assist in the development and administration of HR policies and practices that reflect our company’s values and support customer requirements.
- Develop and enforce Health and Safety policies, procedures, and practices across multiple locations.
- Conduct regular audits of Health and Safety programs (e.g., WHMIS, Emergency Evacuation, Lock Out).
- Promote and reinforce a safety culture throughout the company.
- Conduct and communicate risk assessments for current and new processes to ensure safe management of change.
- Oversee the company’s ergonomics program, including risk assessments and database management.
- Act as the company’s representative with legislative bodies, including the Ministry of Labour and WSIB.
- Oversee Workers Compensation Board reporting and WSIB claims management.
- Conduct and manage safety training for employees and management, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
- Complete APQP-related activities, Problem Resolution Process, and other Quality Management System requirements.
- Authorize the introduction of new chemicals into the facilities.
- Manage the Security Key process.
- Collaborate with supervisors to investigate and report accidents/incidents and develop corrective actions.
- Regularly inspect manufacturing areas to identify and address health and safety hazards.
- Co-chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee and provide direction, including regular workplace inspections.
- Notify the General Manager and regulatory bodies in the event of a critical injury.
- Provide meaningful statistics to management to assist in continuous improvement of workplace health, safety, and loss control.
- Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices, and protective equipment requirements.
- Attend authorized training to develop and maintain job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and certifications.
- Perform job duties in varying levels of noise and temperature as required.
- Perform any other reasonable duties required by Management.
- ISO 14001/ISO 45001 Requirements:
- Ensure day-to-day operations align with ISO 14001/ISO 45001 procedures.
- Establish, implement, and maintain the EHSMS in accordance with ISO standards.
- Report EHSMS performance to Top Management and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Guide the implementation of EHSMS requirements.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in the manufacturing automotive environment and 2+years’ experience in a management role
- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in the Health & Safety
- JHSC Certification, First Aid/CPR
- Expert knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, codes, etc.
- Strong communications skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
