MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study is required.
- Master’s degree in a related field of study is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year of directly related experience (such as: communications, project management, leadership, etc) is required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to manage a project by planning, organizing, coordinating and establishing outcome priorities is required.
- Strong leadership skills are required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide advice and develop and present informational materials, are required.
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team is required.
- Ability to work with a high degree of initiative and accept responsibility is required.
- Ability to work and deal with confidential and sensitive matters is required.

The Student Recruitment, Engagement and Program Support Specialist will play a central role in advancing the Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences’ (FHNS) strategic goals related to student recruitment, retention, engagement, program visibility, and stakeholder relations across undergraduate and graduate programs. Working closely with Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS) Recruitment and Student Experience Coordinator, academic leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners, the incumbent will support communications, events, outreach activities, and administrative processes that contribute to a positive student experience and support enrolment growth.
Student Recruitment, Communications and Program Visibility for FHNS and for extension for FAFS
- Develop and implement communication, outreach, and marketing initiatives that enhance the visibility of FHNS undergraduate and graduate programs and support student recruitment.
- Manage departmental communication channels, including social media, websites, and digital content, showcasing student experiences, research activities, experiential learning opportunities, and alumni success.
- Coordinate student ambassador and volunteer activities that support recruitment, outreach, and promotional initiatives.
Student Engagement and Retention
- Plan and coordinate student-focused events, workshops, information sessions, career development activities, and experiential learning opportunities that strengthen student engagement and retention.
- Support initiatives that foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive learning environment for students.
- Collect and evaluate feedback from students and stakeholders to support continuous improvement and student success.
Master of Applied Human Nutrition (MAHN) Program Support
- Coordinate recruitment, admissions, experiential learning, career development, and recognition events for the MAHN program.
- Manage administrative processes related to experiential learning partnerships, organizational affiliations, and professional appointments supporting program delivery.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Coordinate logistics, scheduling, travel, room bookings, examinations, appointments, payroll-related processes, and other operational activities supporting departmental programs and student services.
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and documentation related to departmental initiatives and program operations.
Program and Stakeholder Support
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among faculty, staff, students, alumni, industry partners, and community stakeholders to support departmental priorities and program growth.
- Support the implementation of engagement, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives aligned with departmental strategic objectives.
- Maintain systems, records, and performance metrics that support program evaluation, planning, and decision-making.
