Human Resources Advisor
Location: Quesnel, BC
Position: Full-Time, Permanent
Wage: $45.00 per hour
About the Position
Lhtako Dene Nation is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to support the growth of our organization by providing professional human resources services and guidance. Reporting to the Band Administrator, the Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for recruitment, employee relations, policy development, performance management, training, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation.
This position plays an important role in fostering a respectful, collaborative, and positive workplace while supporting leaders and employees across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
· Develop, review, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee resources.
· Provide advice and support to supervisors on employee relations, performance management, attendance, and workplace concerns.
· Coordinate employee orientation, training, and professional development.
· Maintain confidential employee records and HR documentation.
· Assist with performance evaluations, probationary reviews, and employee development plans.
· Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation and organizational policies.
· Support workplace health and safety initiatives.
· Assist with organizational planning and workforce development.
· Promote a respectful, healthy, and inclusive workplace culture.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum three years of progressive human resources experience.
· Knowledge of BC employment legislation and human resource best practices.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Assets
· Experience working in a First Nations government, public sector, or non-profit organization.
· Experience developing HR policies and procedures.
· Experience supporting multiple departments in a growing organization.
