Lead Critical Infrastructure Projects Across the Niagara Region

Position Overview
As a Civil Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily field operations on underground and heavy civil construction projects. You will lead crews, manage resources, ensure safety compliance, and drive productivity while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily site operations for underground utility and civil infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate and manage crews working on watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, grading, roadworks, and site servicing projects.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
- Plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to meet project objectives.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, grade sheets, and project schedules.
- Conduct regular site inspections and enforce compliance with company safety policies and Ontario regulations.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship, and project progress while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to resolve field issues, schedule challenges, and unforeseen site conditions.
- Verify that all required permits, inspections, locates, and safety documentation are in place before work activities commence.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with excavation, trenching, confined space, traffic control, lockout/tagout, and other critical safety procedures.
- Ensure workers receive proper instruction, training, and supervision to perform their work safely and in compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
- Immediately address unsafe acts or conditions and exercise stop-work authority when work presents an imminent danger to workers, the public, or the environment.
- Ensure all incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage events, and safety concerns are reported, investigated, and addressed in a timely manner.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Complete and review daily reports, timesheets, and project documentation.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy civil, underground utility, or municipal infrastructure construction.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, grading, underground utilities, road construction, and site servicing.
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and grading information.
- Strong understanding of safe excavation and trenching practices, utility locates, traffic control requirements, and heavy equipment operations.
- Experience conducting hazard assessments, site inspections, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Construction Projects Regulation, and applicable industry standards.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Experience with GPS equipment, laser levels, and grade control systems is considered a strong asset.
