Little Bugs Nursery is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to join our team. We are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, explore, and develop to their fullest potential.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate educational programs in accordance with How Does Learning Happen? and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
- Observe, document, and support each child's learning, growth, and development.
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes children's well-being.
- Prepare children for kindergarten and school readiness by encouraging early literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, independence, and self-help skills.
- Lead engaging activities including circle time, arts and crafts, sensory play, music and movement, outdoor play, and educational experiences.
- Supervise and monitor children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety at all times.
- Complete daily programming, observations, and documentation as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment throughout the day.
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing duties, including toys, tables, shelves, learning materials, classroom equipment, and high-touch surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize children's washrooms and toilets in accordance with public health and Ministry requirements.
- Assist children with daily routines, including toileting, diapering (where applicable), handwashing, meals, and rest periods.
- Communicate professionally and positively with parents on a daily basis regarding their child's day, development, and any concerns.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and team members.
- Follow all Ministry of Education licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and centre policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.
- Complete opening and closing duties, including preparing classrooms for the day, ensuring classrooms are clean and organized, completing required health and safety checks, securing the classroom at closing, and ensuring the centre is ready for the next business day.
- Work collaboratively with team members and support other classrooms when required.
- Perform other duties related to the operation of the childcare centre as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in licensed childcare settings.
- Experience working with various age groups, including toddlers and preschoolers.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunizations as required.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced childcare environment.
- A positive, dependable, punctual and professional attitude with a genuine passion for working with young children.

The advertised rate includes the $2.00/hour Provincial Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG). This portion of compensation is subject to annual provincial funding renewals and centre enrolment parameters.
