Turning Point Recovery Society is a licensed not-for-profit with over 40 years of experience providing residential support to adults in recovery through multiple bed-based sites in Vancouver, Richmond, North Shore, and Squamish. Turning Point also delivers community-based programming such as a Outreach Counseling services, Reaching Home program, second-stage housing, and a social enterprise café .
Turning Point is seeking candidates with experience in the residential recovery field (or a related) to serve as Support Workers in each of our North Shore sites. We have par-time and casual position.
Support Workers provide client-centered support, ensuring safety, orientation, and daily care while fostering life skills, managing medications, and maintaining a secure, clean, and supportive environment under the guidance of the Site Manager.
Responsibilities for the Support Worker Position
- Intervenes effectively with residents utilizing best practice, trauma-informed and client centered approaches;
- Assists residents in the implementation of Individual Care Plans, Relapse Prevention, Transition, Discharge and Continuing Care Plans
- Provides additional supportive recovery services to residents as mandated by program and contract(s);
- Completes in-takes and other case management duties including report writing and documentation;
- Completes resident assessments, and makes appropriate referrals;
- May be required to transport clients to appointments periodically.
Education / Experience
- Two-year Substance Abuse Certification program completion and/or Four-Year College Degree in Social Services preferred; OR
- High school plus additional training equal to 2-4 years of college, which requires knowledge of a specialized field or may lead to licensing or certification.
- 1-2 years of experience working in recovery, addictions, or other social services – in a residential setting preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in providing a continuum of care for individuals with concurrent mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and trauma.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary best practices and emerging research in mental health, substance use, and trauma-informed care.
- Experience in critical incident management, including de-escalation, response, and debriefing, is an asset.
- Current Basic First Aid Certification (OFA Level 1 and CPR or equivalent) or willingness to obtain.
Additional Information:
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Current Naloxone, First Aid, and Food Safe Certificates or willingness to update them.

- As per the latest guidelines of the Provincial Health Officer regarding Hospital and Community (Health Care and other services), all staff working at Turning Point are required to disclose their immunization status for COVID-19, influenza, and other critical vaccine-preventable diseases. This ensures quick action in the event of exposure, or outbreak.
- Work opportunities available: Shifts are 8 hours per day and may be scheduled across any day of the week.
