Ocean Pacific Marine is the most comprehensive marine store and boatyard on Vancouver Island. Serviced by a 150-ton Marine Travelift, Ocean Pacific Marine has been providing parts and service to recreational boaters and commercial vessels in the Campbell River area since 1985. Our projects range from local recreational and commercial vessels to Department of National Defense and Government of Canada vessels including Coast Guard and RCMP.
Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the Accountant supports the company’s accounting and financial operations, including financial reporting, reconciliations, project costing, and month-end processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in full-cycle accounting within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare journal entries and month-end working papers
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial reports, analysis, and forecasts
- Assist with project/job costing and revenue tracking
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
- Monitor customer invoicing, receivables, and collections
- Prepare GST/PST filings and other remittances
- Support audits, financial compliance, and internal controls
- Collaborate with management and operational teams to support business operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years progressive Accounting or Finance work experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and full-cycle accounting
- Experience with month-end and year-end close, and financial analysis
- Experience in project accounting, job costing, manufacturing, marine, industrial, construction or contract-based environments would be an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
- Experience with SAP Business One (SAP B1) or similar ERP systems would be an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Pay: $33.00-$38.00 per hour
