The Role
We are seeking an experienced Journeyperson HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team in the Okanagan Region (i.e. Vernon, Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Kamloops). In this role, you will be the face of Care Systems, diagnosing, servicing, and maintaining a wide variety of commercial HVAC systems. You will work closely with our Building Automation team to ensure client facilities run at peak operational and energy efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose & Repair: Identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues on commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The scope and complexity of diagnostic responsibilities will increase based on your individual trade experience.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform detailed preventative maintenance inspections, routine servicing, and system adjustments to ensure optimal equipment longevity and minimize client downtime.
- Installations & Retrofits: Execute professional installation and equipment retrofits of commercial HVAC units, refrigeration systems, and/or related system piping.
- System Collaboration: Work alongside our DDC/Building Automation technicians to optimize automated HVAC controls (experience with systems like WebCTRL is a significant asset).
- Team Communication: Communicate effectively, proactively, and professionally with dispatchers, supervisors, and fellow team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Client Relations: Live out the C.A.R.E. acronym by communicating clearly with property managers and building owners, providing transparent explanations and long-term solutions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete and submit digital service reports, work orders, safety logs, and time-tracking documentation on time.
What You Bring
- Certification: Valid Journeyperson Red Seal certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics.
- Additional Certification(s): Advanced trade credentials, such as a Gasfitter (Class A/B) or an Electrical/Gas FSR designation, are highly desirable.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience servicing complex commercial mechanical systems.
- Skills: Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with digital controls and building management systems is highly desirable.
- Safety First: A clean commercial driving record and a rock-solid commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Mindset: A customer-focused attitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.

- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- A criminal record check may be required to meet specific client site access requirements.
Physical Demands
- Heavy Lifting: Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly (tools, parts, and equipment).
- Mobility: Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in tight, confined spaces or mechanical rooms.
- Heights: Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and commercial rooftops in various weather conditions.
Work Environment
- Travel: Daily travel to various client sites within the local service region using the company vehicle.
- Varied Environments: Exposure to shifting outdoor weather conditions, noisy mechanical environments, and active commercial jobsites.
- Safety First: Working safely around high-voltage electricity, pressurized gases, live flame, and various refrigerants.
Schedule & Hours
- Standard Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, daytime hours.
- On-Call Rotation: Participation in a rotating evening and weekend on-call schedule to handle emergency client service requests.
