Job Description
This permanent role within the Pre-Flight Department focuses on ensuring aircraft are fully functional, safe, and ready for customer acceptance. You will perform and oversee all operations carried out between final assembly and delivery, working on aircraft from early development through to final assembly. This position is ideal for a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) with an M2 rating who thrives in a structured, high-quality production environment and can work independently on off-shift schedules.
Responsibilities

Perform and oversee all preflight operations on aircraft between final assembly and customer acceptance, using the necessary equipment and adhering to established procedures.

Carry out functional checks, engine runs, and related operations to verify aircraft performance and readiness for delivery.

Complete work associated with the building of an aircraft from the early stages of development through to final assembly, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Conduct detailed troubleshooting on aircraft systems to identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical and technical issues.

Perform rigging tasks to adjust and align flight control systems and related components according to specifications.

Execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities in line with regulatory and company requirements.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance documentation to guide repairs, adjustments, and inspections.

Prepare and complete all required inspection reports and documentation accurately, maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable procedures.

Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with other technicians and departments as needed.

Maintain professionalism and clear interpersonal communication when coordinating work and reporting issues.

Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout preflight and maintenance activities.

Participate in and successfully complete required background checks as part of the hiring and ongoing employment process.
Essential Skills

Valid M2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME-M2) license.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar aircraft maintenance or preflight role.

Hands-on troubleshooting experience with aircraft systems and components.

Demonstrated experience in aircraft rigging and maintenance activities.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Strong interpersonal skills with a professional approach to communication and teamwork.

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Willingness and ability to work permanent off-shift schedules (afternoon or midnight) Monday to Friday.

Capability to consent to and successfully pass a background check as part of the hiring process.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large, clean, and bright shop floor production environment within a premier OEM setting. You will work around operational aircraft and related ground support equipment in a structured, high-volume manufacturing and preflight context. This is a permanent off-shift position requiring afternoon or midnight availability from Monday to Friday. Afternoon shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and night shift runs from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Shift premiums are provided for afternoon and night shifts. Overtime is available after 8 hours per day, with Saturday paid at 1.5 times regular rate and Sunday at double time. Depending on operational needs, you may work at different locations, including Waterloo, with a potential travel premium based on commuting distance for that site.
