We are looking for an experienced Echo tech to work at our Finch location.
OMR Cardiology Clinic is a rapidly growing state of the art cardiac centre dedicated to providing our community with exceptional cardiac care. We perform a high volume of adult echocardiography, contrast echocardiogram and stress echocardiography.
Must be able to work weekends and able to perform Echo all protocols
- Actively performing echocardiographic studies, Definity contrast echo, and exercise stress echocardiograms
- Reviewing requisitions and patient history to identify physician's requirements and to check with the reading cardiologist if uncertain
- Ensuring the proper process is followed in the performance of the requested service and that the testing performed is accurate and valid and all the required views are taken based on the CCN standards
- Maintaining and applying program accreditation standards to all the studies
- Maintaining a close communication link and working relationship with staff at all levels
- In conjunction with the staff, continuously evaluating to maximize patient flow and efficiency
- Ensures the area of ultrasound is operating to expected standards, including: Communicating with the patients about the process involved in performing a full echocardiographic study and to make sure that the patient is at ease and the area is kept clean after each study. Communicating with the staff cardiologist in the lab any issues regarding the image acquisition or study interpretation
- To identify the studies requiring Definity contrast imaging
- Preferably able to insert IVs or willing to learn and to participate in IV insertion for patients who require Definity contrast
Qualifications:
- Experienced in performing echocardiograms and stress echoes and with contrast
- Registration with ARDMS in adult Echo
- Registration with Sonography Canada preferred
- Has experience working with GE echo machines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work various shifts- Able to work independently and as part of the inter-professional team
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in digital image acquisition and study interpretation and echocardiography report generation
- Proven attendance record
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for patients and the clinic staff
- Effectively uses empathy in interactions with patients and office staff
