Transdev Canada is seeking dedicated and compassionate casual HandyDART Bus Drivers to join our Vancouver team.
As a HandyDART Driver, you will provide essential door-to-door transportation services to individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity. Your role:
- Operate a HandyDART bus in full compliance with traffic laws, transit regulations, and Transdev safety standards.
- Deliver safe and courteous door-to-door service by picking up all clients on time and delivering them to their destinations safely and within a reasonable time frame.
- Provide courteous support to riders with mobility needs.
- Safely assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing wheelchairs or mobility devices, while maintaining a respectful and empathetic environment.
- Employ all defensive driving techniques and safety policies to eliminate preventable and non-preventable accidents and passenger injuries.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, checking safety features like brakes, ramps/lifts, and tie-downs, then reporting any issues promptly.
- Accurately log trips, incidents, and passenger interactions, and communicate them effectively with dispatch via two-way radio, mobile data computer or other company provided technology.
- Ensure the bus is clean and safe throughout your shift, following all cleaning and disinfection protocols.
- Accurately collect and reconcile cash fares collected from customers.
- Follow all company policies and perform other duties as needed to support smooth, safe service.

Your profile:
- You hold a class 1, 2 or 4 Unrestricted Driver's License OR a valid Class 4 Learner's License.
- You have a clean driving record.
- You are able to perform medium to heavy physical work of kneeling, bending, reaching overhead, loading/unloading passengers, pushing/pulling, and lift up to 50lbs.
- You must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing and criminal background checks.
- You have a strong commitment to safety and customer service, and enjoy interacting with the public.
- You can operate accessible transportation equipment and secure mobility devices.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You desire to make a real difference in the lives of the customers you serve
- Prior experience in passenger transportation, especially with individuals with disabilities, is an asset.
Your location:
- This is a casual, unionized position in Vancouver, BC.
- HandyDART bus drivers must be available a minimum ten (10) days per month, including weekdays and weekends.
- Variable Shifts: Expect early morning, evening, weekend, and split shifts as required.
- Flexibility is essential, as service operates 7 days a week.
