Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Local Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight and goods within the local area, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining excellent customer service. This role requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism, with opportunities to operate heavy equipment and perform basic automotive repairs as needed.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks to deliver freight within designated local routes
- Load and unload freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment when necessary
- Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Assist with freight handling, including securing loads and verifying delivery accuracy
- Perform routine automotive repairs or maintenance tasks to keep vehicles in optimal condition
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and issues
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic regulations during operations
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, and managing freight handling
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics is a plus
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, loading, and unloading freight
- Reliable transportation for commuting to various job sites
- Prior experience in commercial driving or logistics preferred but not mandatory
