Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Flatbed Long Haul Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight over long distances using flatbed trucks, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, operating heavy equipment and managing freight logistics across various locations.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks for long-distance freight transportation, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Secure and inspect freight on the flatbed to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load security.
- Manage freight loading and unloading, utilizing equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle maintenance reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered on the road.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting if vehicle issues arise during transit.
- Operate heavy equipment safely when required for loading or unloading freight.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed trucks preferred.
- Knowledge of freight handling and securing techniques.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other loading machinery.
- Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting vehicle issues on the road.
- Prior experience with heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to transportation regulations.
