About Cannabis Orchards
Cannabis Orchards Inc. is an innovative, research-driven Canadian agricultural company based in Kemptville, Ontario. Our work includes industrial hemp cultivation, plant genetics, biomass production, agricultural research, drying, milling, and preparation of hemp materials to meet customer requirements.
We are seeking a dependable and motivated recent graduate to support a variety of hemp farming, indoor plant-care, harvesting, post-harvest, and biomass-processing activities.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, and is interested in agriculture, horticulture, plant science, processing, or the hemp industry.
Grant-Funded Position Eligibility
This position is funded through a youth employment program. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be 30 years of age or younger, including applicants who are exactly 30 years old.
- Be a recent graduate of a recognized college or university.
- Have completed any college diploma or university degree program. The field of study does not need to be related to agriculture or cannabis.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of the contract.
- Be available to work full-time for the six-month contract beginning August 17, 2026.

Responsibilities
Hemp Processing and Biomass Handling
- Handle, weigh, organize, and prepare dried hemp materials.
- Assist with milling dried hemp biomass to meet customer specifications.
- Package, label, store, and move processed hemp materials.
- Collect samples and assist with preparing materials for quality testing.
- Maintain accurate processing, production, and inventory records.
- Keep processing, drying, milling, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Follow procedures intended to preserve product quality and prevent contamination.
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, containers, and work surfaces.
Outdoor Field Work
- Assist with the maintenance of outdoor hemp fields.
- Water plants and help monitor irrigation systems.
- Remove weeds manually or using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Monitor plants for signs of pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, or environmental stress.
- Measure and record plant characteristics and field observations.
- Assist with general field, property, and growing-area maintenance.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe outdoor work areas.
- Perform physical work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
Harvesting and Post-Harvest Activities
- Assist with cutting and harvesting hemp plants.
- Move and organize harvested plant material.
- Remove stems and separate usable plant material.
- Assist with bucking, destemming, and preparing biomass for drying.
- Hang, arrange, or otherwise prepare plant material for the drying process.
- Monitor drying biomass and move dried materials into storage or processing areas.
- Assist with cleaning and preparing harvesting and drying equipment.
- Complete other seasonal harvest duties as required.
Indoor Plant Care
- Water and monitor plants maintained in indoor growing environments.
- Remove dead, damaged, or unhealthy leaves.
- Assist with transplanting, pruning, plant organization, and routine crop maintenance.
- Observe and report signs of pests, disease, or plant stress.
- Assist with integrated pest management activities under supervision.
- Clean and sanitize growing rooms, tools, trays, containers, and equipment.
- Record plant-care activities, observations, and measurements when required.
General Farm and Facility Support
- Assist with organizing and maintaining farm, processing, and cultivation equipment.
- Receive and organize agricultural or processing supplies.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Follow written procedures and instructions provided by supervisors.
- Perform other reasonable farm, cultivation, processing, research, and facility-maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and able to attend scheduled shifts consistently.
- Willing to perform a variety of tasks based on operational and seasonal needs.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
- Able to carefully follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, accuracy, and detail.
- Comfortable working around plants, soil, dried plant material, dust, agricultural odours, and farm equipment.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
- Able to safely lift and carry up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Basic ability to record measurements and complete simple production or plant-care records.
- Previous experience in agriculture, horticulture, greenhouse production, landscaping, farming, food production, warehousing, manufacturing, cannabis, or hemp is considered an asset but is not required.
- Training will be provided.
Transportation Requirement
Cannabis Orchards is located at a rural worksite that is not readily accessible by public transportation. Applicants must have a valid driver’s licence and reliable access to a vehicle to commute to and from:

Compensation and Contract
- $25.00 per hour.
- 40 hours per week.
- Six-month, full-time contract.
- Standard payroll deductions, including employee CPP and EI contributions, will apply.
- No extended health or dental benefits are offered with this contract.
