Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced project manager to oversee and coordinate construction projects, in and around BC, from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of construction processes. This role requires consistent coordination between the field and office to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of construction projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and specifications.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor construction activities to ensure work progresses according to the project schedule and critical milestones.
- Supervise on-site personnel and subcontractors, providing clear direction and maintaining productivity.
- Prepare and submit daily site reports, safety documentation, timesheets, and quantity tracking to the project office.
- Coordinate material deliveries, purchase orders, and subcontractor scheduling in alignment with project plans.
- Utilize construction management software (e.g., Bluebeam, Smartsheet, SharePoint) to track project progress and manage documentation.
- Review schematics, drawings, and blueprints to confirm project requirements and facilitate accurate field execution.
- Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and inspectors to resolve site issues promptly and professionally.
- Participate in progress meetings, safety meetings, and coordination calls as required.
- Support project close-out through the completion of as-built documentation, deficiency lists, and warranty submissions.
Skills
- 5+ years of experience managing civil, marine, infrastructure, industrial, or commercial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction management processes and field operations.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Smartsheet, or similar project management and documentation tools.
- Excellent organizational skills for maintaining daily paperwork, logs, and project documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with office and site personnel.
- Experience supervising trades and managing subcontractors effectively.
- Knowledge of quality control and safety procedures, including WorkSafeBC compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
- Competency in estimating, budgeting, and cost tracking for construction projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing site conditions.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling software.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and change management.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement, and subcontractor management.
- Knowledge of Canadian construction contracts, including CCDC contract documents.
- Familiarity with Canadian health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.
