Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for performing, but not limited to, a variety of duties in a multi-skilled and multi- cultural environment, performing primarily routine laboratory tests, collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis, documenting, entering and retrieving data with regards to samples and results, performing related duties and specific laboratory analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Act as reception for patient.
· Perform phlebotomy ensuring proper aseptic techniques in the collection of blood samples from patients for laboratory analysis.
· Enter patients and specimen data and/or results on proper logbooks and worksheets.
· Label, centrifuge and aliquot specimens collected, including those that require special handling and procedures.
· Prepare and package samples for send-outs in accordance with biohazard protocol.
· Perform and documents quality control and assurance programs.
· Operate, maintain and perform basic troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory instruments to ensure optimal function.
· Monitor department inventory and assists in the procurement of supplies and assists with the preparation of lab manuals.
· Assist with general laboratory clean-up; maintains a clean, tidy and efficient work area.
· Monitor and record daily temperatures of room (to include humidity), refrigerators and freezers.
· Ensure observance of safety rules, health regulations and preventive measures in the performance of laboratory duties and responsibilities.
· Professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, and maintain the confidentiality and security of all information related to patients, staff and the business of Create Fertility Centre.
· Performs duties and responsibilities according to relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines related to ART and third-party reproduction, including but not limited to, Assisted Human Reproduction Act (AHR Act), Health Canada, Public Health Ontario, CFAS, and ASRM.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Completion of Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician Certificate or equivalent.
· Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferably in a primary role as a laboratory technician.
· Previous experience in phlebotomy of at least two or more years preferred.

Physical Requirements:
To work in a multi-skilled and culturally diverse environment requiring combination of sitting, standing, bending and walking, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and in a team setting. Special work conditions include but not limited to encounters with challenging and diverse clients, weekend and statutory holiday schedule and from time to time late hour’s schedule and assigning of related specialized task.

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
