Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Human Resource Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing various HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, Dayforce and MITC systems data entry, and Alberta Labour Standards compliance. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of HR strategies, streamline HR operations, and support organizational growth through effective human resources coordination.
Main duties are outlined
Administrative
- Receives and screens resumes by email/phone. Creates rejection letters/emails.
- Maintains resume database.
- Schedules and interviews suitable candidates
- Responds to general inquiries regarding current job postings
- Creates Staff Letters of Appreciation as requested
- Works with members of the administrative team to develop a human resources plan for the Foundation.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the development of an employee-oriented organizational culture that emphasizes quality and continuous improvement and high performance.
- Assists staff to understand and implement the Foundation’s policies and procedures.
- Conducts training as required for staff as requested by DOO or ED.
- Assists with compliance to Creating Excellence Together Accreditation standards.
- Works with members of the administrative team to achieve strategic goals and operational objectives.
- Oversees and participates in all processes pertaining to the identification of need, recruitment, screening, interviewing, reference checks and hiring.
- Creates Job Postings for recruitment both internal and external.
- Responsible for onboarding of new staff. Uses MITC software to create staff profile and inputs staff’s conditions of employment into system.
- Responsible for internal change of statuses and paperwork
- Conducts and analyzes exit interviews.
- Monitors Leave of Absences
- Maintains stats on employee turnover and generates appropriate recommendations.
- Creates annual surveys and results for guardian, individuals and staff.
- Creates monthly reports.
- Leads the planning and participates in the development of employee appreciation events with assistance from administration.
Human Resource File Management
- Creates and maintains new staff personnel files in HR and in finance red files, ensuring all documentation is organized, complete, and confidential
- Sets up HR files for all new employees, maintains the files throughout the year and archives files as needed.
- Maintains the safety, accuracy, and confidentiality of the HR records of each employee, whether current or past
- Completes yearly HR file Audit
Training and Development
- Identifies, and schedules staff training dates in relation to needs of employees and requests from Managers.
- Creates training calendar and books instructors.
- Enrolls staff into training and updates all training and expiration dates. into MITC (RS2) software. Monitoring all staff training requirements and deficiencies.
Financial Management
- Keeps track and updates all pay increases. Creates wage sheets and forwards information for payroll.
- Updates and inputs all wage increases into Dayforce system.
- Keeps track of all employee RRSP eligibility. Sends information to Manulife and forwards information to payroll for processing.
- Responsible for benefits administration including updates to wage, HCSA, and tiered access.
- Provides conformation of employment and financial status letters
Resource for Employees and Managers
- Provides advice to management staff in the appropriate resolution of employee relation issues and supports staff through related processes if appropriate.
- Maintains knowledge of all related employee legislation and ensures compliance.
- Works alongside Program Managers to complete required documentation when a program or staffing changes are made. Ensures legislation is followed during process.
- Works with all Foundation staff to ensure safe and healthy work environments.
- Is a resource for employee wellness initiatives.
Skills
- Experience with MITC, Dayforce, MS teams, Outlook, Microsoft 365 an asset.
- Excellent communication skills for effective employee relations and training delivery.
- Familiarity with human resources management practices including onboarding, performance management, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to handle data collection and entry accurately while maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience with recruiting tools
- This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills who can adapt quickly to changing priorities within a dynamic environment.
Pay: From $38.33 per hour
