Launch or Grow Your Career With Us!
Are you a recent graduate or an aspiring professional eager to kickstart your career? Integrity Audit and Accounting Ltd. is a forward-thinking Calgary firm specializing in energy sector audits.
While direct oil and gas industry experience is an asset, it is not required for this role. We hire for aptitude, curiosity, and teamwork first. We provide comprehensive, hands-on mentorship from experienced auditors to teach you the rest while you build highly marketable Excel, audit, and energy accounting skills.
What You’ll Do
Working directly alongside senior auditors to ensure financial accuracy for our energy clients, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Audit Support: Assist the team with capital and operating expenditure audits.
Data Analysis: Clean, analyze, and reconcile large financial datasets in Excel to spot discrepancies.
Document Review: Vouch invoices and supporting documents against governing agreements.
Reporting: Prepare working papers and draft concise summaries of audit findings.
Collaboration: Stay connected with the team via Microsoft Teams, meet deadlines, actively ask questions, and confidently offer solutions or suggestions.
A Typical Day Looks Like
You might start the day reviewing governing accounting procedures, contracts, and mapping software to understand real-world oil and gas field operations. From there, you'll cross-check vendor invoices, reconcile complex financial datasets in Excel, and meticulously organize your digital working papers.
Throughout the day, you'll work independently, but you'll regularly connect with senior auditors on Microsoft Teams to ask for guidance when you hit a roadblock. You’ll also draft professional emails and lean into your natural curiosity to learn the nuances of energy accounting.
What You Bring
Required:
Coachability & Growth Mindset: You genuinely love learning, are highly trainable, and use constructive feedback to improve while remaining eager to solve problems independently.
Resourceful Problem-Solving: You have a strong desire to try to solve puzzles on your own first, balanced with the self-awareness to ask for help when you hit a wall.
Tech-Savvy Excel Skills: You have strong fundamentals, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data filtering, and basic formulas.
Analytical Comprehension: You possess the critical thinking and high-level reading comprehension required to carefully read and interpret complex contract terms.
Communication: You have clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-Oriented: You are a critical thinker with a methodical approach who genuinely loves digging into the numbers.
Location: You are based in the Calgary area and available for our weekly collaborative day in the downtown office, as well as initial in-person training.
Nice to Have:
General professional office experience.
Basic accounting coursework or familiarity with accounting software.
Prior exposure to joint venture auditing or the oil and gas industry (even casual familiarity through a family member or friend).
