Job Summary
The Drama Instructor with a dance background to deliver after school drama programs to children. This role is responsible for planning and delivering engaging theatre, drama and dance classes for students. This role focuses on building confidence, creativity, communication skills, and performance abilities through acting, storytelling, improvisation, and dance. A music background is an asset.
Duties
- Plan and teach age-appropriate dance, drama and theatre lessons
- Instruct students in acting, voice, movement, and stage presence
- Teach improvisation, script reading, character development, and performance techniques
- Adapt lessons to different learning styles and ability levels
Program Development
- Develop lesson plans, workshops, and rehearsal schedules
- Prepare students for performances, showcases, and productions
- Assist with script selection and adaptation
- Design creative activities and drama games
Rehearsals & Performances
- Lead rehearsals and coach students individually and in groups
- Direct or assist in school/community productions
- Help organize costumes, props, and basic staging
- Support students during live performances
Student Support
- Encourage confidence, teamwork, and self-expression
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Provide constructive feedback and motivation
- Monitor student progress and participation
Experience
- Qualifications Required
- Experience in drama, theatre, or performing arts
- Experience working with children or youth
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage groups in a classroom or rehearsal setting
- Passion for arts education

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
