Job Summary
We are currently seeking a qualified HSE Advisor / Confined Space Watch to support an upcoming construction project in the Calgary area. This is a dual-role position responsible for providing on-site health and safety support while performing confined space monitoring duties in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, and applicable legislation.
Responsibilities
- Act as the designated Confined Space Watch/Monitor during confined space entry activities.
- Verify confined space permits, hazard assessments, rescue plans, gas testing documentation, and entry requirements are in place prior to work commencing.
- Continuously monitor confined space entries and maintain communication with workers and supervisors.
- Stop work and initiate emergency response procedures if unsafe conditions or changing conditions are identified.
- Conduct and facilitate daily safety meetings/toolbox talks with site personnel.
- Perform routine site inspections and observations to identify hazards, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor worker, contractor, and subcontractor compliance with company, client, and legislative health and safety requirements.
- Provide safety coaching, mentoring, and guidance to supervisors and workers in the field.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
- Maintain site safety records and complete required safety reports, inspection forms, and client documentation.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, orientations, and client safety meetings as required.
Requirements
- NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation.
- Construction or trades experience considered an asset.
- Current Confined Space Entry & Monitor Certification (classroom).
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Reliable personal vehicle for travel to and from project site.
- Must be local to the Calgary area.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation and construction safety practices.

Pay: $38.00-$50.00 per hour
