Community Living North Bay is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the position of Employment Specialist(Bilingual). This position requires collaborating closely with the application entity and reports to the Manager, Employment First & Transitions. This position is based in North Bay Ontario.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Manager, the Employment Specialist will provide guidance and support to participants with specific employment preparedness, to gain and maintain community-based competitive employment, or opportunities that will lead to employment. You will assist in the development and delivery of various training and foster individual personal growth based on a person’s interests, desires, abilities and goals.
WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THIS ROLE?
- Ensure the participant is an active part of all phases and aspects of their employment and community involvement.
- Develop an Individual Employment Plan based on the person’s career goals, interests and strength’s (hrs. of work, days of the week, amount of pay, location). This plan will drive the process of identifying specific employers and will be reviewed and amended as needed.
- Provide educational training and counselling to encourage skill development to foster independence and confidence.
- Provide career counselling, resumé development, vocational assessments, job task analysis, on-site job training, job site adjustments and modifications for employment.
- Assist and support the participants in making a successful transition to employment through access to training, funding supports, employment preparation (resume, job searches, interview skills, skills training).
- Ensuring job site and employee safety with an awareness of the Occupational Health & Safety standards.
ARE YOU THE RIGHT PERSON?
- University Degree in the field of Marketing, Business or Human services.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in coaching, teaching and using different training methods
- Demonstrated ability in coordinating services in the community
- Experience supporting individuals with an intellectual disability
- Demonstrated experience in customer service or marketing
- Knowledge and experience with employment, training opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities.
- Standard First Aid Course
- Driver's License Vehicle with valid proof of insurance coverage of $2,000,000
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
- Bilingualism (French- English)
COMPENSATION: $48,204.00
SCHEDULE: 37.5-hour work week, including occasional evenings, nights and weekends
