Position Summary
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Journeyman Electrician who can complete electrical work safely, efficiently, and to code.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Technical Safety BC requirements, and VoltSEQ Electrical company standards.
This role requires someone who can work independently, lead small crews when required, communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, and complete jobs efficiently while maintaining a clean and safe worksite.
This position may include out-of-town work depending on project requirements. The successful candidate must be willing to travel when required and represent VoltSEQ Electrical professionally while working on local and regional job sites.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for:
- Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in residential, commercial, service, and light industrial settings
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, layouts, and electrical plans
- Completing service calls, renovations, tenant improvements, panel upgrades, generator installations, lighting upgrades, and general electrical work
- Installing conduit, cable, panels, breakers, disconnects, transformers, lighting, receptacles, controls, and other electrical equipment
- Ensuring all work meets the Canadian Electrical Code, Technical Safety BC requirements, and company standards
- Leading and mentoring apprentices when required
- Communicating clearly with customers, supervisors, suppliers, and other trades
- Documenting work completed, materials used, site conditions, deficiencies, and required follow-up
- Taking photos and providing job notes as required
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe worksite
- Following company procedures for material lists, purchase orders, time tracking, and job documentation
- Identifying change order work before proceeding with anything outside the approved scope
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a professional manner
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- A Red Seal Journeyman Electrician
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable leading apprentices and checking their work
- Strong in troubleshooting and problem solving
- Professional when dealing with customers, coworkers, suppliers, and other trades
- Comfortable reading drawings, prints, and specifications
- Willing and able to work out of town when required
- Committed to safe work practices
- Able to follow company systems for time tracking, documentation, material lists, and job notes
- Focused on quality workmanship and doing the job properly the first time
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification
- Valid driver’s licence
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently
- Ability to read drawings, prints, and specifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable using mobile apps for time tracking, job notes, photos, and documentation
- Willing and able to work out of town when required
- Commitment to safe work practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial tenant improvements
- Experience with service upgrades, panel changes, and generator installations
- Experience with conduit bending and EMT installation
- Experience mentoring apprentices
- Industrial, controls, or troubleshooting experience is an asset
- Experience using Jobber, CompanyCam, or similar field documentation software is an asset

Physical Requirements
This position may require the ability to:
- Lift tools, materials, and equipment as required
- Work on ladders, lifts, roofs, crawlspaces, mechanical rooms, and construction sites
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods
- Travel for out-of-town projects when required

Pay: $32.57-$45.00 per hour
