SUMMARY
The National LINC Online Curriculum Project is a multi-year project for the development of PBLA supported eLearning units for LINC learners. Reporting to the Coordinator, the Multimedia Designer will design and create digital learning assets. This includes illustrations, animations, videos, character assets, and other multimedia materials used in online learning.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and create graphic assets, including animations, illustrations, videos, and other multimedia materials for online learning
- Create vector-based illustrations and prepare assets for animation
- Develop and animate 2D characters and related assets using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects
- Work with existing character rigs and animation workflows in After Effects, with experience using Duik Angela strongly preferred
- Apply established design standards, including layout, colour, typography, image and text placement, illustration style, and animation style
- Design assets that support learner understanding, readability, accessibility, and visual clarity
- Review storyboards and related templates to create visuals that align with learning content
- Assist in the design of project related templates, reports, outreach materials, and other visual resources.
- Work closely with the Writing and Development teams to support smooth content development and consistent visual standards
- Communicate clearly, troubleshoot issues, and bring forward ideas or recommendations when needed
- Use project management tools and follow file management best practices
- Follow quality control, accessibility, and development standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Motion Graphic Design, Animation, Multimedia Design, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in design, digital media production, motion graphics, animation, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and After Effects
- Experience with 2D character animation, After Effects rigging, and reusable animation workflows
- Experience with Duik Angela is strongly preferred
- Ability to follow an established visual style while maintaining consistency and quality across assets
- Ability to design with learner experience in mind, including readability, accessibility, clarity, and ease of understanding
- Knowledge of UX/UI principles, accessibility standards, and inclusive design practices is an asset
- Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, colour, and composition
- Experience with storyboarding and interpreting storyboard content for visual development
- Ability to respect diversity and work collaboratively with individuals of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
DESIGN ASSESSMENT
Candidates selected to move forward may be asked to complete a short design style assessment in Adobe Illustrator. The assessment is expected to take no more than one hour, and instructions will be provided to shortlisted applicants.
Salary rate: $ 63,940.26
