Job Description
The Design and Manufacturing Technologist supports the design, development, and execution of custom vessel projects. This role assists with 2D and 3D design work, documentation, CNC manufacturing support in a fast-paced environment.
Working closely with design, production and projects teams, the successful candidate will help develop accurate fabrication drawings, production packages and manufacturing documentation that support efficient vessel builds.
This position is well suited for someone with experience in mechanical design, project coordination, or custom manufacturing environments who enjoys working on highly varied custom projects from concept through production.
Engineering & Design Support

Create and revise 2D CAD drawings and 3D models.

Development of layouts, assemblies, and fabrication drawings.

Coordinate drawing updates and revisions based on production feedback and project changes.

Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist with design updates based on production feedback.
Production & Project Support

Work with Fabrication, Production and Project teams to support vessel build requirements.

Coordinate between design, production, purchasing and project teams to maintain project flow and manufacturing priorities.

Prepare files for CNC routers or fabrication processes.

Troubleshoot design and fit-up issues during fabrication and assembly.
Technical & Administrative Tasks

Prepare spreadsheets, reports, technical documentation and BOMs using Microsoft Office (with strong emphasis on Excel).

Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure drawings and files meet company standards and accuracy requirements.
Qualifications
Education
-
Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
-
2+ years of experience in mechanical design, engineering coordination, manufacturing, fabrication, marine, or custom production environments preferred.

Marine or manufacturing experience considered an asset.
Technical Skills
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Experience with 2D CAD software (AutoCAD).

Experience with 3D modeling software (Fusion360, Solidworks, Rhino).

Familiarity with CNC cutting, fabrication processes, or production environments is considered a strong asset.
Experience Level

Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, marine, or custom production environments preferred.

Candidates with practical hands-on experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Equivalent combinations of education and industry experience will be considered.

Working Conditions

18+ years of age and legally authorized to work in Canada;

Work is performed in an office adjacent to a metal manufacturing environment;
