Our Scarborough Subway Extension Office is seeking to hire a Project Manager to support the delivery of transit facilities for the Scarborough Subway extension (i.e., underground Stations, Rail & Systems (SRS). The Project Manager works as part of the project Delivery Team, in a collaborative environment comprised of multi disciplinary teams, designers, technical advisors, subject matter experts and contractors overseeing the day-to-day design and construction to deliver the project on-time, on budget and in a safe and standardized manner.
What will I be doing?
Work seamlessly in a collaborative One Team environment with a project team comprised of both Metrolinx and non-Metrolinx employees. Foster a unified approach, leveraging the diverse skills and perspectives within the team for optimal project outcomes.
Navigate complex project issues and risks, fostering effective conflict resolution and managing stakeholder expectations.
Support the efficient delivery of project elements from detailed design and contract document preparation to construction, contract management, and commissioning activities.
Prepare reports and presentations to support management briefing updates on progress, status of project.
Chair progress and ad hoc project meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
Ensure contractors’ plans align with contract documents, overseeing compliance with provisions and maintaining a focus on safety, quality, environmental compliance, cost, and schedule performance.
Forge effective communication with agencies, utility companies, and external stakeholders, defining requirements and developing project implementation plans.
Manage site reviews and audits, ensuring contractors and consultants adhere to contracts and maintain a safe working environment.
Works with a multidisciplinary team comprised of employees, Delivery Partner, consultants/Technical Advisor, and contractors to deliver high-quality product and service, and oversees the day-to-day delivery of project team members involved in the coordination and administration of project elements.
Coordinates a number of complex tasks under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments.
Engages and cultivates rapport with stakeholders to deliver Project objectives, manage expectations and ensure efficiency, best practices, and innovations, to meet project requirements
Assist the Senior Project Manager and Manager in ensuring that the project deliverables adhere to the Project Agreements through all stages and phases of the project.
Ensures safety culture is practiced by the project teams and on site by implementing applicable safety policies and procedures, reviewing workplans, ensuring safety requirements are met and attending site to oversee construction operations.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Demonstrated relevant experience in project management in transit projects of similar magnitude and complexity, including transit projects, underground stations, and utility relocations
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or partial completion is an asset
P.Eng. designation or partial completion is an asset
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies, and processes.
Experience with project life cycle including design, construction, and commissioning of multi-disciplinary transit projects,
Knowledge of Collaborative project delivery models, Progressive Design Build (PDB), contracting methods and Project Agreements.
Familiarity with Contract Law, Construction Liens Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and the Professional Engineers Act.
Demonstrate interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to present complex ideas with clarity and simplicity, fostering collaboration across all organizational levels and with specialists from various sectors.
Knowledge of municipal, TTC, Metrolinx and other national rail and transit standards is an asset
Demonstrated project management skills and experience managing multiple complex projects under pressure to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
