Community Liaison Worker

Purpose and Role
To live out our purpose of growing together in Jesus Christ to change lives and make a difference in the world, the community liaison workers will animate and enliven our outreach and justice ministries during the summer, under the direction of the office administrator and in alignment with St. Paul’s growth vision and strategic plan.
The community liaison workers will help us connect more deeply with our neighbourhood, meet tangible community needs, and cultivate new relationships—especially with newcomers to Canada, children, youth, and young adults. These roles are supported by the Canada Summer Jobs program and are subject to its terms, including employment from July 6 to August 28.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify key community needs within our ministry context
- Design and implement outreach events, programs, or initiatives in response to those needs
- Engage volunteers and community partners to support these initiatives
- Foster a culture of radical hospitality and social impact within the congregation
- Write a short report on outcomes, learnings, and potential next steps at the end of the summer
Accountability
The community liaison workers report to the office administrator for supervision, coaching, and development. They will work in collaboration with staff and volunteer leaders, including the all ages minister.
Working Conditions
This position is 35 hours per week. Ordinary office hours are 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for community programs. Compensation is $18.75/hour. Successful candidates must complete police and vulnerable sector checks in accordance with our Staff and Volunteer Screening Guideline.
Qualifications
- Passionate about justice, inclusion, and community transformation
- Able to work in a faith-based setting (open to all faith backgrounds)
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and growth-minded
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program (ages 15–30)
