Position Overview
CEL is currently recruiting a full-time Electrical Estimator based in our Calgary Head Office. In this critical pre-construction and pre-bid role, you will lead electrical estimating pursuits and commercial construction bidding for multiple CEL branches under the direction of the Business Development Unit.
This exciting opportunity calls for an experienced Electrical Tradesperson or Technologist who is an organized self-starter able to meet tight deadlines working in a fast-paced environment. The individual should have a good understanding of the CEC, wiring methods in a variety of environments and the constructability of electrical systems. The successful candidate will need to be a team player and have technical expertise to help guide CEL in our continued growth objectives.
Electrical Estimator Responsibilities
- Detailed electrical estimating.
- Pursuit management for new Commercial and Industrial Electrical projects as assigned by the Division Manager
- Review bid specifications, identifying systems and counts as well as any cost and risk factors.
- Compile RFIs to clarify requirements where there may be ambiguity, options, or competitive advantage.
- Complete take-offs, device counts, and compile an electrical estimate based on site requirements, complexity, labour estimates, material estimates and equipment costs estimates needed to meet specifications.
- Obtain material pricing, vendor quotes, and supplier quotes in support of an electrical estimate.
- Complete site visits as required.
- Complete accurate estimates using Accubid.
- Prepare bids, present estimate, assumptions, risks and the estimating process for multiple reviews.
- Submit and track budgets and quotations.
- Participate in estimating project handover planning and supporting the project management team.
- Contract and Change Order Management
Electrical Estimator Qualifications & Experience
- Interprovincial Journeyman License, 4th Level Apprentice or Electrical Technologist Diploma
- Working knowledge of Accubid, Estimating Software, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel & Blue Beam
- Possesses good organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Previous experience working on the tools in new commercial or industrial construction setting, is an asset.
- Results-oriented, analytical and organized to meet tight deadlines.
- Electrical problem-solving and design skills, plan reading and specifications.
- Good customer and vendor relationship skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Valid Driver's License.

Pay: $47,260.51-$103,194.12 per year
