Experienced Pipeline Layer / Hardscape Working Foreman
Riverstone Excavation & Underground Ltd. is growing and we're looking for experienced professionals to join our team. We are currently hiring for two full-time positions:
- Experienced Pipeline Layer
- Experienced Hardscape Working Foreman
We specialize in excavation, underground utilities, watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, site servicing, commercial retaining walls, hardscaping, septic systems, demolition, earthworks, and road construction throughout Simcoe County, Muskoka, and surrounding areas.
Position 1 – Experienced Pipeline Layer
We are looking for a highly experienced Pipeline Layer who can work independently in the trench and is also capable of operating heavy equipment when required. This is not an entry-level position.
Responsibilities
- Install watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
- Read and interpret engineered drawings, grades, cut sheets, and construction plans.
- Set up and operate pipe lasers to establish accurate line and grade.
- Read and verify invert elevations, benchmarks, and survey stakes.
- Install maintenance holes, catch basins, hydrants, valves, water services, sewer laterals, and culverts.
- Ensure proper pipe bedding, haunching, backfill, and compaction.
- Verify pipe slope, alignment, and invert elevations throughout installation.
- Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, and compactors when required.
- Work closely with the excavator operator and foreman to maintain safe and efficient production.
- Follow Ontario Provincial Standards (OPSS) and all project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience installing watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer.
- Extensive experience using pipe lasers, reading invert elevations, grades, and engineered drawings.
- Strong understanding of trench safety and underground utility installation.
- Experience installing maintenance holes, catch basins, hydrants, valves, and underground services.
- Experience operating excavators and skid steers.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence with reliable transportation.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to producing quality workmanship.
Position 2 – Experienced Hardscape Working Foreman
We are looking for an experienced Hardscape Working Foreman with extensive experience building commercial retaining walls and high-end residential landscapes. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll lead the crew while working alongside them.
Responsibilities
- Lead crews constructing commercial and residential retaining walls.
- Install Redi-Rock, armour stone, precast concrete, and segmental retaining wall systems.
- Build natural stone and flagstone patios, walkways, stair systems, and landscape features.
- Install natural stone and precast steps.
- Complete excavation, grading, drainage systems, and site preparation.
- Read and interpret engineered drawings, elevations, and grades.
- Oversee granular base preparation, geotextile installation, drainage systems, clear stone backfill, and compaction.
- Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, and compactors.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive job site.
- Train and mentor crew members while leading by example.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of hardscape construction experience.
- Extensive experience installing Redi-Rock commercial retaining wall systems.
- Extensive experience building armour stone walls, flagstone patios, natural stone walkways, and stone stair systems.
- Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, and excavation.
- Experience operating excavators, skid steers, loaders, and compactors.
- Ability to read engineered drawings, elevations, and grades.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence.
