Job description:
Backstage Library Works is seeking detail-oriented team members to process RFID tags for items at the Bibliothèque de Brossard Georgette-Lepage in Brossard, Quebec, Canada. This project involves scanning each item in the collection and attaching tags that correspond to the barcodes on each item. Ideal candidates are reliable, comfortable working on their feet, and able to follow clear directions in a team setting.
This is a full-time, temporary position requiring 40 hours per week, which includes one 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute paid breaks each day. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, typically during first-shift business hours, typically 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (subject to change). Tentative project start date of July 27, 2026 (subject to change). The position is estimated to last approximately 8 weeks. Compensation for this role is USD$20.10 / CAD$28.00 per hour.
Duties:
- Scan barcodes and attach a corresponding RFID tag to each item, returning it to its place on the shelf
- Read shelves to ensure items are in correct order after they have been processed
- Handle materials carefully while following preservation guidelines, as required
- Work collaboratively with the project supervisor, teammates, and library personnel, as necessary
- Follow daily project goals, schedules, and quality standards
- Communicate clearly with teammates and the project manager about any variation of assigned work schedule
- Prior experience or knowledge of this type of work is helpful, but not required; Technicians will be trained on site
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate in English; Bilingual French-English communication skills preferred
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately
- Strong organizational skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new tasks
- Professional attitude and excellent work ethic; business casual attire required
- Reliable transportation for commuting to and from the workplace
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and laptop computers
Preferred Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in a related field
- Experience working in a library environment
- Experience in a production-oriented setting, demonstrating efficiency and meeting daily goals and deadlines
- Experience working with laptop computers and handheld scanners
