Job Overview
TopEliteTeachers, a Canadian-based subsidiary of TopOnlineTeachers, is hiring now for online ESL tutors with Mandarin fluency, preferably having gone through the mainland Chinese education system. Students typically range in age from 10 to 15. Curriculum is provided, and teachers have flexibility to modify lessons as appropriate. Hours are flexible and generally fixed week to week depending on availability of tutor and student demand. Our typical peak hours are every day from 6 PM to 9 PM China Time. Salary is from $20-$30 CAD per hour paid twice monthly via e-transfer. Canadian citizens and residents have the option to be hired as regular employees with EI and CPP benefits.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one or group online tutoring sessions in English, utilizing Mandarin as the primary language of instruction when necessary.
- Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s learning goals, age, and proficiency level.
- Use engaging teaching methods and educational tools to facilitate language acquisition and maintain student motivation.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of lessons, student attendance, and performance metrics.
- Adapt teaching strategies based on individual student needs, learning styles, and feedback.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents (when applicable) regarding progress and areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on best practices in language teaching and incorporate innovative techniques into lessons.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Mandarin and English is required;
- Prior experience working with children or teenagers in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong writing skills for creating lesson plans, instructional materials, and progress reports.
- Demonstrated tutoring or classroom teaching experience, especially in language education.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage students virtually.
- Passion for teaching languages and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
- Reliable internet connection and access to a computer or tablet suitable for online instruction.
