SCOPE
Acumen Health is an exciting and growing Private Orthopaedic Surgery Clinic and Reconditioning Centre. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, this Nursing Coordinator/LPN position is to support patients in their journey with our health professionals from a referral, their consultation, all the way to booking their surgery and post-op care.
DUTIES
- A flexible weekday schedule from 8 AM to 4 PM, with 0 to 4 post-op care shifts per month running from 9 PM to 9 AM as well as 9AM - 9PM
- On average 40 hours per week
- Overnight care of 1 to 4 total joint replacement patients (ASA 1 or 2) in an off-site location
- Data entry admin tasks
- Schedule Patients for Providers
- Answer clinic phones for surgical patients. This is an important task as our clinic is private and a different experience for patients. Educating patients on surgery performed and expectation is important in a private setting
- Provide 24 hour on call phone support to post-operative patients (part of a rotation among multiple nurses)
- Ensure office policies and procedures are followed
- Use word processing, spreadsheet, database or presentation software to prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters, etc.
- Maintain patient’s file throughout their journey
- Keep filing system organized and safe
- Be involved in the design of our EMR, reporting, and policies of the clinic
- Have a good relationship with partners and collaborative clinics
- Work in collaboration with Surgical Centres across Canada
- Perform assessments for surgical patients
- Take vitals for joint replacements patients
- Schedule patients for pre-op assessment with family physician
- Schedule nursing team shifts and coordinate nursing care locations
- Organize pre and post-op appointments with our reconditioning team
- Organize medical files for patient referral (labs, imaging, etc.)
- Provide pre-op and post-op appointments to surgical patients
- Ensure referral files are complete and refer to surgical centres and applicable centres accordingly
- Constantly improve processes, patient journey flow, and inter department communication
- Initiate and maintain vascular access via IV/butterfly needle to assist physicians in drawing blood for PRP injections

- Minimum 2 years experience preferred as part of a medical team
- Willingness to learn, time and change management skills
- Great phone etiquette
- Passion to educate patients about Orthopaedic options in Alberta and BC
- Passionate about educating patients on post-operative care, recovery, and expectations
- Knowledgeable in post-op care for total joint replacement patients
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,240.00-$62,400.00 per year
