The Park Stewardship Programs team coordinates a number of programs that support environmental awareness, beautification and parkland operations. The Park Stewardship Programs team is looking for a Program Assistant to provide support to the Partners in Parks and Boulevard Gardening programs.
What will you do?
-
Create engaging online and print media tools for program promotion and communicating to the public via social media platforms, newsletters and other online communications

Organize and deliver educational materials and resources through in-person programs, community events, and outreach activities
-
Respond promptly to phone and email inquiries from residents and participants
-
Complete site visits and resource deliveries to program sites
-
Perform inventory assessments, site visits and data collection using various methods
-
Interpret mapping information using Google Maps and AEGIS
-
Maintain materials and equipment used for program delivery
-
Manage program files, ensuring accurate documentation and organization
-
Support program recruitment, training, communications, supply distribution, program logistics and recognition activities
-
Assist in the assessment of overall program effectiveness

Track program statistics, evaluate performance metrics and assist with program reporting

Support other programs as required
Qualifications:
-
Completion of the first year of a recognized related diploma or degree program
-
Experience working in customer service, or with volunteers and/or the general public
-
Possession of valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or the ability to obtain
Assets:
-
Experience delivering/presenting educational and/or recreational programs
-
Experience using mapping software ArcGIS, Survey123 or FieldMaps
-
Experience using online media platforms, and digital marketing platforms and the ability to learn new software systems

Experience identifying plants
Skills required for Success:

Strong written, oral, presentation and web-based communication skills

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Experience using Google Applications

Conditions of Employment:

Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy which may require business auto insurance

Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel-toed boots, is a requirement for this position

Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
Work Environment:

Must have the ability to work a variety of shifts which will include evenings and weekends

Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
