Position Name: Miraflex Printing Press Operator
Department: Production

Pay: $28.00-$37.00 per hour depending on experience

Job Overview
A Printing Press Operator is responsible for the daily work on the Miraflex printing presses to fulfill orders of customers. The Press Operator needs to be able to read the dockets that outline the material composition and operation to meet the expectations of the customers. This role also maintains production records, troubleshoots and problem solving as well as participating in activities designed to improve quality assurance or lower manufacturing costs. This position follows safety rules and work instructions while fulfilling work orders to achieve consistent quality of finished products.
Hours of Work:
Rotating 8 hour shift every 2 weeks from Monday to Friday (Days, Afternoon, Nights) with weekends off. Weekend shift schedule also available.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for operating the press at the projected production rates, conducting appropriate setups, and troubleshooting press-related issues
- Read dockets, and blueprints to understand the material composition and operation towards a finished product.
- Knowledge of production schedules and deadlines.
- Adjusts the speed of the press according to run
- Responsible for producing the entire printing job correctly that specify the types of ink, plate and material that should be used for the printing.
- Preventative Maintenance on printing presses
- Mixing inks and solvents together
- Mounting cylinders and making necessary adjustments
- Co-ordinates and directs machine assistant/s to maintain or improve efficiency.
- Regularly inspect machines for performance and perform basic preventative maintenance, such as lubricating and cleaning machines.
- Follow various rules and regulations relating to safety, production, quality, and product safety.
- Record various information on reports including production, quality control, and product safety.
- Comply with good housekeeping standards and procedures to follow GMPs and HACCP procedures.
- Practice safe behavior with regards to equipment and tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating Miraflex or similar ten colour press machine required
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
- Basic math and computer skills is necessary.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication in verbal and written form.
- Must be flexible working 3 rotating shifts (Days, Afternoons, Nights).
- Ability to follow directions closely and function as a part of a team.
- Must be capable of machine setups, troubleshooting and minor machine repairs.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Understanding of assembly process and production quality.
- Practicing safe behaviour with regards to equipment and tasks.
