SUMMARY: PICO of Canada is a Canadian owned wholesaler selling to customers across Canada. Our products include light duty electrical terminals and related components. The Finance Assistant has responsibilities in many areas. They will assist in producing the monthly financial statements by bringing accounts to trial balance, including schedule maintenance and financial analysis. Other responsibilities include producing the bi-weekly payroll, post AR payments and review of overdue accounts and follow-up. Also, assisting with inventory receiving into the software system and issuing payments as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and tasks involved for this position may include, but are not limited to the following:
Payroll & Benefits
Ensure accurate wages are paid to employees. Produce the BC and ON hourly & salaried bi-weekly payroll, balance payroll taxes and remit, journalize the payroll, produce T4s. Create extra pay runs as required. Load payroll data into the payroll software, including: new hires & terminations, ROEs, taxable benefits, deductions & other needed inputs to produce accurate payrolls. Ensure group benefit data are accurate for all employees new hires, terminations & rate changes.
Reconciliations, Reports & Filing
Assist in bring the general ledger accounts to trial balance for monthly reporting of the financial statements. Reconcile assigned GL accounts. Produce ad-hoc and regular reports as needed. Maintain organization of online and paper files for payroll and finance information. Keep personnel and company information organized, confidential and secure
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable
Receivable deposits and postings. Review of overdue accounts and collections. Provide assistance for accounts payable payments and inventory receiving for as needed. Assist with annual inventory & cycle counts.
Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERPS) & Other Software
Our ERPS houses our main activities: AR, AP, GL, Purchasing & Inventory functions. Finance has a number of other software programs assisting finance and administrative activities, such as banking, payroll, benefits, time clock, expense reporting, and provincial government software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Permanent Resident of Canada or a Canadian citizen
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: You are a certified accountant or have solid work experience with a clear interest in accounting. You have worked in AR and AP and assisted with producing financial statements. National Payroll Institute (PCP or PLP) certification is helpful or in lieu of the latter, solid work experience in payroll. You are co-operative and willing to work on your own and with others.
