Commercial property division
Position: BUILDING JANITOR / MAINTENANCE
Location: Ottawa, ON
Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 hrs./weekly
Reports to: Property/building manager
Salary: Upon experience
MAINTENANCE PERSON (on a 5 day week, this person would be 3 days on the same property and 2 days floating across different properties in the area). FULLY RESPONSIBLE OF HIS BUILDING, AND ASSISTING TWO DAYS WEEK ON DIFFERENT PROPERTIES.
JANITORIAL DUTIES:
- Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping each floor
- Clean commercial buildings by cleaning tenants’ units, emptying all trash cans, servicing restrooms and wiping down communal surfaces
- Tackle heavy cleaning jobs upon request
- Ensure outside walkways remain clear and free of debris
MAINTENANCE DUTIES:
- General repairs to the building, equipment and furnishings;
- General renovations of units including painting, wallpaper and surface repairs;
- Provide maintenance services as scheduled;
- Maintain the effectiveness of building mechanical, electrical and fire detection and safety systems;
- Maintain the grounds in a neat and tidy fashion;
- Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies for day-to-day use;
- Notifies property/building manager of all equipment and building areas in need of repair and develops an action plan;
- Basic plumbing (ex: change sink, toilet, pipe repair);
- Basic electrical
- Highly proficient in painting units;
- Change flooring (ceramic, floating);
- Capable of turning over and preparing an appartment according to company standard time;
- Manage sub trades and call in professionals when needed;
- Keep upon communication with manager;
- All connected tasks related to maintenance .
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Background
- Five years or more experience, preferably in building maintenance;
- Knowledge and training in physical plant and grounds maintenance including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.;
- Excellent communication skills
Personal Requirements
- Own transportation, valid Driver’s License
- Work as part of a team
- Capable of working on multiple properties (on a 5 day week, this person would be 3 days on the same property and 2 days floating across different properties in the area)
- Capable of adapting to different situations and change
