Position: Finishing Carpenter
We are looking to hire for 2 positions.
First is eager to learn finish carpentry. Either have an apprenticeship or want to start one. They have strong work ethic and a re a self starter.
Second is a Red Seal carpenter or equivalent. They have experience installing doors, trim and window sills efficiently. They have the ability to manage other team members and jobsites. They have good communication skills and are keen to take on more responsibly in the future.
Role Overview: The Finishing Carpenter is responsible for the final touches and detailed craftsmanship required to complete a construction project. This role involves working with precision and attention to detail to install, repair, and finish various woodwork elements, such as trim, molding, cabinets, doors, and stairs. The Finishing Carpenter ensures that all finishing work meets quality standards and enhances the overall aesthetics of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Install and fit various woodwork components, including trim, crown molding, baseboards, casings, doors, windows, cabinets, and staircases.
- Measure, cut, shape, and join materials to achieve accurate and seamless installations.
- Repair or replace damaged or worn-out woodwork elements as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or design plans to determine the required dimensions, materials, and construction methods.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, contractors, and other team members to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications.
- Ensure that all finishing work meets high-quality standards and complies with project specifications.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify any defects, imperfections, or deviations from the design requirements.
- Make necessary adjustments, repairs, or refinishing to achieve the desired results.
- Select appropriate materials, such as lumber, hardware, and finishes, based on project requirements and quality standards.
- Maintain an inventory of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for finishing carpentry work.
- Coordinate with project managers or procurement teams to ensure the availability of required materials.
- Follow safety protocols, regulations, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Adhere to building codes, industry standards, and project-specific guidelines during all finishing carpentry activities.
- Work collaboratively with other carpenters, contractors, and tradespeople to ensure seamless integration of finishing work with the overall construction process.
- Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders to clarify requirements, address issues, and provide progress updates.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Finishing Carpenter or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, woodworking tools, and finishing materials.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, sketches, and design plans.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, shape, and join woodwork components.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid BC Drivers licence.
- First Aid an asset
Job Types: Apprenticeship, Full-time
Pay: $23.25-$41.50 per hour
