Senior Mechanical Engineer / Designer - Building Systems
Windsor, Ontario
Compensation: Target compensation range of $115,000 - $150,000 CAD annually.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, professional designation(s), technical expertise, project leadership experience, and overall alignment with the role requirements.
Our client is a growing multi-disciplinary engineering consulting organization delivering industrial, automotive, commercial, institutional, and manufacturing-related projects across North America.
As growth continues, they are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer / Designer to support the design, coordination, and delivery of building systems projects while providing technical leadership and mentoring within a collaborative engineering environment.
This opportunity is ideal for a mechanical engineering professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with clients, and contributing to projects from concept through construction.
Who This Role Is For
This role is well suited to an experienced mechanical engineering professional with a background in consulting engineering and building systems design.
You enjoy working across multiple projects, collaborating with clients and internal stakeholders, and taking ownership of project deliverables. You are comfortable balancing technical design responsibilities with project coordination, construction support, and client interaction.
This role is not intended for individuals seeking highly specialized or isolated design work with limited collaboration. Success requires adaptability, communication, and a consultative mindset.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design and develop mechanical building systems for industrial, automotive, commercial, and institutional facilities
- Prepare and review HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, compressed air, and related mechanical system designs
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system analysis
- Develop drawings, specifications, technical reports, and project documentation
- Coordinate with structural, electrical, architectural, and project management teams
- Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and project planning activities
- Conduct site visits, assessments, and field reviews as required
- Support construction administration activities, including contractor coordination and issue resolution
- Mentor junior engineers, designers, and technologists
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule commitments
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- P.Eng designation preferred; senior CET professionals with significant relevant experience will also be considered
- Minimum 8 years of progressive mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience
- Experience within a consulting engineering environment
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and mechanical building systems
- Experience supporting industrial, automotive, commercial, institutional, or manufacturing facilities
- Familiarity with Canadian and North American building codes and standards
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities
Technical Experience
Experience with any combination of the following is considered an asset:
- Revit
