Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to manage daily financial transactions and process payroll accurately and on time. This role is responsible for maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with Government of Alberta Child Care Grant Funding programs, and supporting overall financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping Duties
- Record and maintain financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts on a monthly basis
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records
- Prepare financial reports as required
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and Government of Alberta Child Care Grant Funding Programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Payroll Duties
- Process monthly payroll, including Wage Enhancement and Professional Development funding, accurately
- Calculate wages, overtime, and deductions
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
- Prepare and submit source deduction remittances as required
- Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies
Qualifications
- Certified Bookkeeper (CPB), Accounting diploma or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping and payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll regulations
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Wagepoint and Excel (asset)
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in childcare administration, including familiarity with grants, other funding and regulatory requirements considered an asset
Pay: $60,000.00-$73,000.00 per year
