WAGE RATE: $44.67 – $57.90
Reporting to the Manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services, the MSW/MHC will implement and monitor services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health issues. The MSW/MHC must be able to function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and work cooperatively with multiple service providers. This position requires travel throughout the catchment area (Grey and Bruce Counties) to deliver programs and to meet the needs of clients. Responsibility for a case management caseload is required. The incumbent will participate in various components of the program such as community education, family intervention and consultation to the community. This position is initially targeted to work in our Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychosis (PEPP) program with the understanding that the MSW is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be transferred to another program as needed.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required
MSW:
- Master’s degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
MHC-M:
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Science field
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
Both:
- Minimum 5 years recent experience working in the community with individuals with significant mental health needs and substance use disorders
- Knowledge and appreciation of Recovery Principles
- Recent experience working with youth SMI outpatient clientele and their families
- Recent experience working with clients with first episode psychosis
- Excellent assessment and treatment skills utilizing modalities of intensive case management, individual, family and group therapies, and the understanding of community-based resources
- Analytical and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle and respect confidential information with tact and diplomacy are essential
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-V
- Training and experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy
- Training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Training and experience in Single Session Therapy
- Training and experience in Group therapy
- Training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- P.I. training up to date
- P.R. – basic certification
- Knowledge of side effects of medication and strategies to cope with those side effects
- Access to reliable transportation – Extensive travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties is required
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
- Able to work all shifts
